LXTLP Bit LXT Mode 0 Qui�k Sta�t 1 Low-powe� Afterpoweron,theLXTLPbitwillbeautomaticallyclearedtozeroensuringthattheLXToscillator isintheQuickStartoperatingmode.IntheQuickStartModetheLXToscillatorwillpowerup andstabilisequickly.However,aftertheLXToscillatorhasfullypoweredupitcanbeplaced intotheLow-powermodebysettingtheLXTLPbithigh.Theoscillatorwillcontinuetorunbut withreducedcurrentconsumption,asthehighercurrentconsumptionisonlyrequiredduringthe LXToscillatorstart-up.Inpowersensitiveapplications,suchasbatteryapplications,wherepower consumptionmustbekepttoaminimum,itisthereforerecommendedthattheapplicationprogram setstheLXTLPbithighabout2secondsafterpower-on. Itshouldbenotedthat,nomatterwhatconditiontheLXTLPbitissetto,theLXToscillatorwill alwaysfunctionnormally;theonlydifferenceisthatitwilltakemoretimetostartupifintheLow- powermode. Internal 12kHz Oscillator – LIRC TheInternal12kHzRCOscillatorisoneofthelowfrequencyoscillatorchoices,whichisselectedvia configurationoption.ItisafullyintegratedRCoscillatorwithatypicalperiodofapproximately65us at5V,requiringnoexternalcomponentsforitsimplementation.IfthesystementersthePowerDown Mode,theinternalRCoscillatorcanstillcontinuetorunifitsclockisnecessarytobeusedtoclock thefunctionsfortimingpurposesuchastheWDTfunction,LCDDriverorTimer/EventCounters. TheinternalRCoscillatorcanbedisabledonlywhenitisnotusedastheclocksourceforallthe peripheralfunctionsdeterminedbytheconfigurationoptionsoftheWDTfunctionandtherelevant controlbitswhichdeterminetheclockisenabledordisabledforrelatedperipheralfunctions. Watchdog Timer – WDT TheWatchdogTimerisprovidedtopreventprogrammalfunctionsorsequencesfromjumpingto unknownlocations,duetocertainuncontrollableexternaleventssuchaselectricalnoise. Watchdog Timer Clock Source TheWDTisimplementedusinganinternal12kHzRCoscillatorknownasLIRC,theexternalLXT 32.768kHzoscillatorortheinstructionclockwhichisthesystemclockdividedby4. Watchdog Timer Operation Thetimerisdesignedtopreventasoftwaremalfunctionorsequencefromjumpingtoanunknown locationwithunpredictableresults.AconfigurationoptiondetermineswhethertheWatchdogTimer istobealwaysonorwhetheritsenable/disablecontrolisundersoftwarecontrol.Iftheconfiguration optionchoosesthealwaysonoption,thenanyWE4~WE0valuesotherthan01010or10101will resultinanMCUresetbeinggenerated.Iftheconfigurationoptionchoosesthesoftwarecontrol optionthentheWatchdogTimercanbedisabledbysettingtheWE4~WE0bitstoa10101value. Avalueof01010willenabletheWatchdogTimerandanyothervaluewillgenerateanMCUreset. Theactualresetwillbegeneratedafter2~3LIRCclockcycles. |
